About Us
The Norfolk Tourism Foundation is dedicated to strengthening Norfolk’s hospitality and tourism workforce, a vital sector employing over 12,000 people and serving as the city’s third-largest economic engine. We provide educational opportunities, grants, scholarships, internships, and workforce development programs to ensure the continued growth and success of this industry.
Through partnerships with VisitNorfolk, the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council, Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, Tidewater Community College and local businesses, we create pathways to success for individuals in the community while driving economic prosperity for Norfolk and the surrounding region.

How We Are Funded
Private Foundations Grants: We’re supported by donations from local, privately held foundations. We also apply for grants to further our mission in the community.
Fundraising Events: We put the fun in fundraising with several events including Cruise for a Cause, Town Point Virginia Wine Fest chalets and Gourmet Golf Tournament.
Individual Donations: In addition to being the backbone of our community, small business owners and and local individuals play an important role in supporting our industry.

Our HISTORY & VISION
The NTF was founded in 2004 to generate relevant research about the tourism industry’s positive impact on the local economy to demonstrate that travel is essential to enhancing the quality of life in our region. Since its inception, the NTF has participated in 17 research initiatives including a study on the Profile and Economic Impacts of Visitors to Norfolk, the 2020 Regional Branding Initiative, and Visitor Spending Trends.
