The Norfolk Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the ECHL based in Norfolk, Virginia. The Admirals are affiliated with the Winnipeg Jets and play all home games at the Norfolk Scope in downtown Norfolk. The Admirals have two mascots, a dog named Salty and a rabbit named Hat Trick. Norfolk Scope is a cultural, entertainment, convention and sports complex in Norfolk designed by Italian architect/engineer Pier Luigi Nervi in conjunction with the (now defunct) local firm Williams and Tazewell. Nervi’s design for the arena’s concrete dome derived from the PalaLottomatica and the much smaller Palazzetto dello Sport, which were built in the 1950s for the1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
