Travel to Norfolk by plane, train, car or even by boat! Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is only 15 minutes from Norfolk’s downtown and offers flights aboard six major airlines. Amtrak and Greyhound Bus lines are conveniently located in the heart of downtown. For visitors who prefer to drive, Norfolk is easy to get to via I-64 and I-264. Traveling by boat? Make your journey to Mile Marker Zero, and drop anchor at one of the city’s marinas

Once you’ve arrived it Norfolk, getting around is a breeze! Our walkable downtown is filled with things to do and sites to see. For those who prefer to see the city on two-wheels, take a ride on a Pedego bike. Or maybe catch a ride on the Tide. The Tide’s 7.5-mile route in and out of the downtown area includes 11 stops allowing convenient access to many of the city’s offerings. Venturing throughout the city is easy with our team of taxis, transportation network companies, and private rentals. 

Getting to Norfolk, VA is easy!

Centrally located along the mid-Atlantic coast, with easy access from Norfolk International Airport, the Greyhound Bus Station, AMTRAK train station, and two interstate highways, as well as by boat, via the Elizabeth River and the Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk is as easy to get to as it is to get around!

Amtrak

Amtrak’s recent increase of daily services between Norfolk, VA and Boston allows you to visit Norfolk at an affordable rate. Stops along the way include, Richmond, Washington DC, Philly, New York and beyond. Be sure to take advantage of these convenient roundtrip, same-seat travel opportunities. Norfolk International Airport

Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is the major airport serving southeastern Virginia with hundreds of flights daily flights provided by American Airlines, Allegiant, Delta, Southwest, Breeze, Frontier and United.

Norfolk International Airport is centrally located just one mile east of I-64, just minutes from Downtown Norfolk, or anywhere else you want to go. Once you’ve arrived, there are plenty of options for ground transportation to take you to your intended destination in Norfolk and surrounding cities. Greyhound Bus Lines

Greyhound Bus Lines Norfolk station is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Norfolk at 701 Monticello Avenue. Downtown hotels are just a short walk or taxi ride from the station.

FROM EAST
I-64 East toward Richmond. Bypass Richmond with I-295 South (toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach). Take I-64 East to I-264 West to Exit 284A (toward Norfolk). Follow Exit 9 to Waterside Drive into downtown Norfolk.

FROM NORTH
Interstate 95 South toward Richmond to I-295 South (toward Norfolk, Virginia Beach). Take I-64 East to I-264 West to Exit 284A (toward Norfolk). Follow Exit 9 to Waterside Drive into downtown Norfolk.

FROM WEST
Interstate 95 South toward Richmond to I-295 South (toward Norfolk, Virginia Beach). Take I-64 East to I-264 West to Exit 284A (toward Norfolk). Follow Exit 9 to Waterside Drive into downtown Norfolk.

FROM SOUTH

What better way to travel to a city on the water, than by water!  If you’re arriving in Norfolk via a leisurely cruise aboard your own personal sailboat, power cruiser, or luxury yacht –you’ll be a most welcome guest. The city’s marinas offer direct access from the Chesapeake Bay and the region’s inland waterways.

You shouldn’t need it again until it’s time to leave, for the city offers so many fun ways to enjoy its many sites and amenities. Within 12 walkable downtown city blocks, you’ll find world-class museumshistoric attractionsshopping and a wide array of dining options.

When your feet tire, or when you want to venture a bit further, simply hop on the Tide, Norfolk’s light rail system. Norfolk is proud to claim that visitors can travel around much of the city without leaving a carbon footprint.

Those who prefer to travel outside of the downtown area by private car or via taxi will be happy to find that in most cases it’s only a 15-minute drive to most of the region’s other exciting locales and attractions.
