Set It Off released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Duality, on October 14, 2014 via Equal Vision Records. Duality was recorded in Los Angeles with producers Brandon Paddock [Avril Lavigne], Tommy English [We Came As Romans], and Matt Appleton [Reel Big Fish]. Duality was also released in partnership with Rude Records in the UK (October 13), Europe (October 14) and Germany, Austria and Switzerland (October 17), and UNFD in Australia/New Zealand (October 14).
With Duality, Set It Off has expanded upon their signature cinematic sound, creating their most memorable and bold work to date. The album also features impressive guest vocalist spots from Jason Lancaster (Go Radio) and William Beckett, and was included in Alternative Press’ ‘Most Anticipated Music of 2014’ Issue. Duality debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard Independent Chart, No. 81 on the Billboard Top Current Chart, and No. 86 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
“It’s not just the lyrical content that represents duality, the instrumentals portray it as well,” Carson elaborates. “You’ll hear dark, minor verses that transition to bright, happy choruses. Just like our lives, the great involuntary, impulsive non-stop roller coaster ride. I’m sick of fake people and watching them skate by with the idea that it’s okay to put on an act to gain confidence and trust in their peers. Allow me to be the first to tell you this about myself: I am good, I am evil. I am solace, I am chaos. I am human, and that’s all I’ve ever wanted to be. Be human with us and show us your true duality.”
In August 2011, Set It Off made their label debut with the re-release of their third EP, Horrible Kids, which garnered widespread praise in the press from the likes of mtvU, Alternative Press, Guitar World, Rock Sound, Outburn Magazine and more.
The band then followed up the EP with their debut full-length, Cinematics on September 18, 2012, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard South Atlantic Heatseekers Regional Chart, No. 4 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart, No. 9 on Billboard Next Big Sound Chart, No. 38 Independent Chart, and even broke into the Billboard Top 200 chart at No. 174.
Set It Off is comprised of Cody Carson (vocals), Dan Clermont (guitar), Zach DeWall (guitar), and Maxx Danziger (drums).
The band has shared toured and shared stages with the likes of My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, Falling In Reverse, Chiodos, Our Last Night, A Day To Remember, Say Anything, We Are The In Crowd, William Beckett, and the entirety of both the 2013 and 2015 Vans Warped Tour.
