Multi-platinum recording artist and producer G-Eazy has long established himself as a staple in the music and touring world. Known for his smooth raps, pristine production and dexterous range, the Bay-area rapper has performed on Saturday Night Live, MTV Video Music Awards, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and many more. He has won a People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Hip-Hop Artist”, named one of Forbes “30 Under 30” and covered publications such as GQ Italia, Rollacoaster, Numero NL, XXL and Flaunt.

In 2021, the rapper delighted fans with the long-awaited release of his fourth studio album, These Things Happen Too. These Things Happen Too is the sequel to his debut LP, These Things Happen, and highlights G’s growth since the 2014 breakout album. The 19-track album showcases G’s multi-faceted artistry with a diverse, yet eclectic body of work, and marks his first full-length record since 2017’s critically-acclaimed The Beautiful & Damned. The genre-spanning tracklist includes hard-hitting hip-hop anthems such as “Instructions” ft. YG, while also leaning into the pop sphere on tracks like “Breakdown” ft. Demi Lovato and “Faithful” ft. Marc E. Bassy. The album received critical acclaim, with the body of work becoming a career standout for the superstar.

His third full-length studio album The Beautiful & Damned (2017) debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, garnered two No. 1 radio hits – “No Limit” ft. A$AP Rocky & Cardi B and “Him & I” ft. Halsey – and has since been certified platinum by the RIAA. The 7x platinum single “No Limit” has been streamed over 1 billion times worldwide to date. The Beautiful & Damned followed his platinum-certified sophomore album When It’s Dark Out (2015), which featured the 5x platinum single “Me, Myself & I” with Bebe Rexha. His influence also spans the fashion world where he has partnered frequently with some of the biggest design houses and regularly appears on best-dressed and grooming lists.

The star has used his far-reaching platform to launch The Endless Summer Fund – a non-profit dedicated to helping Bay Area under-served youth reach their full potential and strengthening the community. The fund remains one of the most important projects of G-Eazy’s multi-faceted career.

Between The Buried and Me- Protest the Hero

May 21 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

What if dreams could be broadcast for the purpose of entertainment? Could you consume the innermost thoughts of another person on screen? If you could, what does that say about an attention-starved audience? More importantly, what would become of the dreamer?

Between The Buried and Me pose those questions and more on their two-part eighth full-length and introductory offering for Sumerian Records, Automata. The North Carolina quintet—Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. [lead vocals, keyboards], Paul Waggoner [lead and rhythm guitar, backing and lead vocals], Dustie Waring [rhythm and lead guitar], Blake Richardson [drums], and Dan Briggs [bass, keyboards]—explore these themes by personally smashing boundaries once again. Automata marks the band’s first proper double LP-spanning concept. Moreover, they continue to expand their ever-evolving style, upholding a tradition of progression in the process.

“We never want to repeat ourselves,” affirms Paul. “We’re always trying to do something different, and this album fell right into that sort of pattern. We push ourselves into new places, while retaining our basic sound. Musically, we go somewhere that’s fun and challenging. We never know how it’s going to turn out. These are uncharted waters for us. We’ve never written an entire piece and presented it in separate parts like this.”

Tommy agrees, “This many years into our career, we want to continue doing things differently.”

This approach cemented the group as progressive music’s most unpredictable outlier since its formation in 2000. Among many milestones, they released 2007’s watershed Colors followed by The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues EP in 2011 and The Parallax II: Future Sequence a year later. 2015 saw Coma Ecliptic elevate them to new heights yet again. Not only did it bow at #12 on the Billboard Top 200 (a career high for the band), but it also garnered widespread acclaim from NoiseyRevolverAlternative Press, and The Guardian who welcomed the album with a rare perfect score. In between, they launched countless sold out headline tours and support runs with the likes of Mastodon.

Now, they break more ground with Automata.

“Lyrically, I wanted to write something that I treated as a puzzle until it comes together at the end,” continues Tommy. “For as deep and dark as it is, there’s a positive outcome, which we’ve never had. The story follow a protagonist whose dreams are used as entertainment broadcasted by a company called Voice of Trespass. Most of the record takes place within that dream. The character thinks it’s all real.”

“Even though it takes place in the future, there are a lot of parallels to modern society,” adds Paul. “Oftentimes, we turn athletes, movie stars, and musicians into commodities. We forget that they’re real people with problems and issues. They’re society’s escape from reality as we use them for entertainment. Hence, society plays a role in their downfall, be it drug dependence, isolation, or even suicide. Society perpetuates mental illness with those expectations.”

Automata – Part I unveils the first six songs comprising the entire body of work. Stretching near seven minutes, “Condemned to the Gallows” kicks off this journey. Acoustic guitar builds in epic fashion before sweeping distortion takes hold followed by unpredictable rhythms and a seismic vocal performance which, as Tommy puts it, “sets up the whole story.”

Elsewhere, the trudging eight-minute guitar symphony of “Yellow Eyes” spirals into the melodic bliss of “Millions.”

“There are a lot of moments where we totally venture away from the traditional formula of what a progressive metal band can do,” states Dan. “There are all these little moments where we’ve done something we never did before. ‘Millions’ is the perfect example. It’s four-minutes of straight melody—another first.”

With Automata Part IPart II, and the myriad of visuals on the horizon, Between The Buried And Me realize their potential to its fullest—and go one step further.

“All of our music should build up to the newest record,” Tommy leaves off. “That’s what happens with Automata. You can take little snippets from our past throughout this album. It sounds like Between The Buried And Me, but it’s still new. We hope to keep the music industry on its toes. This is part of doing that.”

Of Mice & Men

May 23 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

Strength often comes from starting over. In the aftermath of a disruption, calamity, or tragedy, there’s a process of restoration. Southern California quintet Of Mice & Men refer to it as Restoring Force. Not only does that serve as the title for the group’s third full-length album for Rise Records and follow-up to 2011 breakout The Flood, but it also sums up their unbreakable spirit. Enduring lineup shifts and a constant uphill battle to be heard, the band—Austin Carlile [lead vocals], Alan Ashby [rhythm guitars], Phil Manansala [lead guitar], Aaron Pauley [bass, vocals], and Valentino “Tino” Arteaga [drums]—emerges stronger than ever.

“What happens after a disaster? What happens after The Flood?” asks Carlile. “You return to normal. You find balance again. That’s what we felt like we were doing with this album. We officially added Aaron, and this is exactly where we needed to be with our sound. We wanted this record to bring equilibrium back to our band and music. We’re letting everyone know that we’re here to stay. We’re Restoring Force.”

Embracing that mindset, they headed to House of Loud Studios in New Jersey to record with producer David Bendeth [Paramore, Breaking Benjamin] at the start of June 2013. Through intense recording sessions, they challenged themselves and expanded their signature style.  As a result, they penned pummeling, passionate, and powerful anthems that teeter between searing screams and magnetic melodies.

“David is a character,” smiles Carlile. “He brought out the best in us by pushing us to the absolute limit. That’s why we wanted to work with him from the beginning. He worked us, shaped us, and molded us. We loved him sometimes, and we hated him others. He helped us reach a new level though.”

Part of the group’s ascent involved the incorporation of Pauley into every aspect of the creative process. His soaring hooks proved the perfect counterpoint to Carlile’s crushing screams.

“It was the first time we had every actually recorded together,” Carlile goes on. “He’s our brother, and he’s an incredible vocalist. I remember one night we were doing pre-production early on, and Aaron had some reservations. He was down on himself, and he didn’t know if he was cut out for it. I told him, ‘You’re the person who delivers that final punch and emotion. You’re the one who sends it home for us. Trust yourself’. The next day, he showed me ‘Feels Like Forever’.”

The track builds from a polyrhythmic riff into an utterly unforgettable refrain. It’s artfully heavy and chaotically catchy.

“I saw Aaron’s struggle in the studio, and I had the same struggle two weeks later,” admits Carlile. “I broke down. I was mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausted. That song takes me back to making this record. When we finished it, I was so reassured. You can always come out of any low point.”

Elsewhere on the record, “Bones Exposed” snaps from staggering guitars into a percussive onslaught led by the frontman’s inimitable growl and cinematic lyrics.

“This one’s heavier,” he affirms. “I was bitter, angry, hurt, and wounded. It’s about somebody you really don’t like at the moment. At the same time, we’re all broken. We’re all messed up. We’re all liars. We’re all sinners. We’re all flawed. None of us are perfect so you have to let it go at some point. It’s like a cut. If you leave it alone, it heals. Otherwise, you scratch it until the bones are exposed.”

Meanwhile, “Would You Still Be There?” merges the melodic and metallic seamlessly, and “You’re Not Alone” seesaws between an uplifting refrain and guttural verse. The latter touches on a larger theme for Carlile.

“The theme of the record is togetherness, working together, and being a family,” he reveals. “I want our listeners to know they’re not alone. We’re all going through it with them.”

The fans won’t take his words lightly. The group has become a veritable phenomenon worldwide, selling out shows across North America all the way to Australia, Europe, and beyond. The Flood reached #28 on the Billboard Top 200 and garnered praise from the New York Times, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, and more. With sales surpassing 125,000 and YouTube streams over 16,000,000, The Flood remains one of the most successful releases in 22 years of Rise Records.

In the end though, Restoring Force is a pivotal moment for Of Mice & Men that sees them gain power like never before.

“Of Mice & Men has outgrown all of us,” concludes Carlile. “It’s bigger than the individuals comprising it. It’s bigger than the album. It has become its own thing. It’s more than just a rock group. I want this album to get people thinking and talking. It’s different. There are no cryptic messages. This is purely meant to move you.”

Force has effectively been restored for Of Mice & Men, and they’re ready to conquer. — Rick Florino, November 2013

Raised in a family of musicians, the rapper, writer, and producer began playing drums in his native St. Louis at an early age. As an adult, he moved to Chicago and connected with Classick Studios to release his first two EPs, S!ck S!ck S!ck and blkjuptr. In 2017, Smino dropped his debut album blkswn–hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the ‘40 Best Rap Albums of the Year’–and followed that with the 2018 release of NØIR, which landed on year-end lists from Complex, The Atlantic, REVOLT, and more. Between those critically acclaimed projects, he has generated over half-a-billion streams and counting in addition to selling out US headline tours in 2017 and 2019. Furthermore, Smino is a thread in the contemporary artist community with standout feature verses with Doja Cat, J. Cole, EARTHGANG, and Chance the Rapper, among others. He has also appeared in campaigns for DKNY, Billionaire Boys Club, and Topicals Skincare, and closed out the COLORS x Burberry series with a performance of his single “Rice & Gravy.” In 2021, Smino inked a deal with Motown Records (in partnership with his independent label Zero Fatigue) and unveiled his deepest vision yet with new single “90 Proof” [feat. J. Cole] – the first official single off his forthcoming album, Luv 4 Rent.

Mayday Parade

June 3 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

The sixth studio album from Tallahassee-based rock band Mayday Parade, Sunnyland gets its title from an abandoned hospital where the band members used to sneak in to explore as teenagers. “The hospital shut down sometime in the mid-’80s but then it just stayed there for decades,” says lead vocalist Derek Sanders. “It was a super-creepy place—it was overgrown with vines, and still had some of the hospital beds and IV stands—but we have all these good memories of hanging out there when we were younger.”

The follow-up to their acclaimed 2015 album Black LinesSunnyland finds Mayday Parade both reflecting on the past and pushing toward the future. The band recorded the album with longtime producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, and also teamed up with Grammy nominated producer John Feldmann (blink-182, Panic! At the Disco) and Howard Benson (Of Mice & Men, My Chemical Romance) for the very first time. The result is an album built on impassioned vocals, sing-along choruses, and deeply heartfelt lyrics.

From the album-opening “Never Sure”—a tortured love song driven by blistering riffs and pummeling drumbeats—Mayday Parade instill all of Sunnyland with unbridled energy. Whether they’re taking on a folk-infused ballad like “Always Leaving” or channeling brutal punk fury into tracks like “If I Were You,” the band sustains an undeniable intensity. While much of the album explores personal matters like loss and love (as on the stirringly romantic, piano-laced “Piece Of Your Heart”), songs such as “It’s Hard to Be Religious When Certain People Are Never Incinerated By Bolts Of Lightning” emerge as an outward-looking burst of anger. “That song was written within months of Donald Trump being elected and came from feeling upset that something as horrible as that could happen,” says Sanders. “But even though there’s a lot of negativity on the song, there’s still a hopeful chorus, because I think we need to try to stay hopeful.” And to close out Sunnyland, Mayday Parade deliver the album’s stripped-back title track, a melancholy midtempo number that unfolds with graceful acoustic guitar work, delicate harmonies, and subtly detailed storytelling.

Since making their debut with 2007’s A Lesson in Romantics, the band has sold over 1.1 million albums, steadily amassing a worldwide following. Through the years, their chemistry has only

gotten more potent, with all five members now contributing to the songwriting process (and coming up with upwards of 80 songs in the writing sessions for Sunnyland). “When we started this band most of us were still teenagers,” notes Sanders. “We’ve obviously grown up and changed a whole lot since then, but through all that we’ve grown closer as friends and tighter as musicians. It’s amazing and incredible that we’re able to still do this, and we all definitely realize how lucky we are.”

Having gotten their start selling their CDs in the parking lot of Vans Warped Tour, Mayday Parade have now headlined the tour five times, and will play the main stage again this summer for the tour’s final run. For the band, each live show offers the chance to personally connect with the dedicated following they consider more like a family than a fanbase. And with the release of Sunnyland, Mayday Parade’s mission is to continue strengthening that connection through their uncompromising honesty and boundless emotion. “There’s a lot of sadness in these songs, but it’s always a good thing to get those feelings out,” says Sanders of Sunnyland. “So if there are people out there dealing with hard times, we hope our music can help them work through that, and come away feeling a little better about everything.”

Ocean Alley

July 20 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

Infused with their classic sun-drenched sound and infectious groove, ‘Touch Back Down’ is a story about turning a negative into a positive and always finding the light side of a problem. It was written during a last-minute writing session in Byron Bay, which only came to be after Bluesfest was cancelled at the eleventh hour in April this year.

Boppy from its opening bars, the track features an intoxicating sing-along melody that paired with swirling guitars and shimmering keys, create a warmth and brightness that feels like summer. It builds to an emphatic chorus where frontman Baden Donegal’s soaring vocals shine and are punctuated by stunning harmonized backing vocals.

On the new single, Baden shared “It’s exciting to have new music out. The more records we write, the more we can explore our sound and style, which is why they are ever-changing. ‘Touch Back Down’ gives a much happier vibe than any single from Lonely Diamond and we’re definitely carrying that upbeat energy across our writing at the moment. It provides a pretty good insight into the feel we’re going for in terms of our next record.”

Guitarist Mitch Galbraith added, “It feels more playful than Lonely Diamond and we wanted it to be that way. After the craziness of the past two years, we wanted to be less serious and write songs that will get people moving rather than thinking. We felt that we could write music this time around that is less introspective and with a little more storytelling, so this is the first taste of the new direction that our fourth album will offer.”

From Northern Beaches dive bars to sold out international tours, Ocean Alley’s evolution has been driven by an endless pursuit to push their sound and abilities to new limits. Operating as a proudly independent band, their output has always been underscored by a refreshingly chilled authenticity and relatability that has seen them achieve more than 450 million catalogue streams.

Since the release of their Gold-certified breakthrough Chiaroscuro (2018) which saw the band take the #1 spot in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2018 for their double platinum smash ‘Confidence,’ the six-piece have performed major festivals including Reading & Leeds (UK), Splendour In The Grass (AUS) and Sziget (HU), debuted at #3 on the ARIA charts for their critically acclaimed 2020 album Lonely Diamond, have received Gold certification on five singles and been nominated for 2 ARIA Awards.

DeAndre Ramone Way (born July 28, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois), better known by his stage name Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, or simply Soulja Boy, is an American pop rap artist. In September 2007, his single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was initially self-published on the Internet, and it became a number-one hit in the United States for seven non-consecutive weeks starting in September 2007.

In November 2005, Way posted his songs on the video-based social community YouTube. Following positive reviews on the site, Soulja Boy then established his own web pages on YouTube and MySpace. In March 2007, he recorded “Crank That” and released his first independent album Unsigned and Still Major, followed by a low-budget video filmed demonstrating the “Soulja Boy” dance. By the end of May 2007, “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” received its first air play and Soulja Boy met with Mr. Collipark to sign a deal with Interscope Records.

On August 12, 2007, the song appeared on the Emmy-award winning HBO series Entourage, and by September 1, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot RingMasters charts. Way’s major label debut album Souljaboytellem.com, which was reportedly recorded using just the demo version of FL Studio, was released in the United States on October 2, peaking at #4 on both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

On December 9, 2007, Way was sued by William Lyons (aka Souljah Boy of the Home Dogs) who claims he first created the stage name ‘Souljah Boy’.

In the 2008 Grammy Awards, Soulja Boy was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Rap Song with “Crank That (Soulja Boy)”.

The Fray

April 18 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

The fourth album Helios from critically acclaimed Denver-based foursome The Fray will be released February 25 on Epic Records. Of the new music, produced by Stuart Price (The Killers, Madonna, Keane) and Ryan Tedder (Adele, One Republic), Isaac Slade (piano, vocals) notes, “Working with Stuart was the best of both worlds. We brought our organic instruments, and he brought his arsenal of electronic antiques. This record is all about running to the front lines of what we’ve done and pushing our borders even farther. Electronic instruments, drum samples, enormous backing vocals, opening up our writing to folks outside our camp.”

The band premiered the lead single “Love Don’t Die” on the “Today Show,” kicked off the first night of late night television sweeps performing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” rang in the New Year as part the global TV celebration  “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2014,” and recently performance on the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The new music has received early critical acclaim from Denver Post as well as Billboard hailing its “bare emotion bolstered by echoing backing vocals and unexpected twang.” The video for “Love Don’t Die” is streaming now at Vevo: http://smarturl.it/LDDvid. Pre-order for the album is available now: http://smarturl.it/helios. The band will continue to tour in the new year, dates forthcoming.

The Fray is Slade, Joe King (guitar, vocals), Dave Welsh (guitar), and Ben Wysocki (drums). The Denver-based foursome formed in 2002 after high school friends Slade and King bumped into each other at a local guitar shop. The Fray achieved national success with their 2005 debut, featuring the hit singles “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” which went double-platinum. The band also earned a 2010 Grammy nomination for their self-titled release.

SAINT JHN

March 29 2025

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The NorVa 317 Monticello Avenue Norfolk, VA 23510 757-627-4547 Price: Price may vary

SAINt JHN is an emerging emcee with a sophisticated, dynamic approach to the rhymes he spits. Bringing a cinematic presence and harmonious hooks to his vocals, the Brooklyn-based rapper is gaining recognition for his distinct style. Born Carlos St. John in Brooklyn, he was the son of a preacher and one of nine siblings, who also happened to grow up bouncing back and forth every few years between America and Guyana. Noting the favorable exchange rate between the two nations, their Brooklyn-based mother regularly sent money to support SAINt JHN and his siblings. SAINt JHN recalls his humble roots as the “barefoot, shirtless kid bathing in the rain, fetching water up the street.” At a glance, his childhood can be mistaken as an exotic tale brimming with travel and culture, though in truth, it was a crime-ridden adage steeped in poverty. As a witness to his brothers’ ill-fated attempts at lawlessness, SAINt JHN learned at an early age his options were to either sell drugs or make music. And while he too tested the waters of drug dealing, he quickly learned what he stood to lose was greatly disproportionate to what he stood to gain. “I wanted to change my family’s lineage,” he proclaims. It was at this time he started his decade-long journey to pursue a musical career with acute precision. He credits watching his older brother, an active rapper who participated in cyphers, as a defining moment in his discovery of hip-hop as an art form. Mimicking his brother’s aspirations, SAINt JHN started rapping at age 12, though admits he stole some of his brother’s rhymes to impress his classmates in junior high. “They thought I was a genius,” he recalls. “He’s two years older than me so I’m in junior high giving you 14-year-old bars, 15-year-old bars. They were like ‘wooo!’ I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m dope!’” Influenced by the rich cultures of both cities, SAINt JHN remembers getting hip to Jay Z, The LOX, and Dipset juxtaposed by his time in Guyana, where he was immersed in soca music as well as the sounds of Buju Baton, Beenie Man, and Sound Cat. Upon his permanent return to the States, SAINt JHN began to hone his skills as a rapper – channeling that energy into his early mixtapes – The St. John Portfolio and In Association – which received early support from DatPiff and Pigeons & Planes, who noted, “[SAINt JHN’s] brand of hip-hop is intense,” then added, “his voice delivers urgency, clarity and passion.” SAINt JHN recalls, “I needed someone to say, ‘Listen, cool. Your rapping is fantastic. Stop rapping for a second. Go make some songs. Go make music.’” This pivotal moment jumpstarted SAINt JHN’s career as a songwriter. Yet as he racked up writing credits, including Usher, Kiesza, Joey Bada$$, Jidenna, to name a few, he simultaneously lost his own voice in the process. “When I sold songs to other people, I watched them to see how they would execute. Their tones didn’t quite match mine so the songs wouldn’t completely capture the same magic. It’s really hard to recreate magic.” In an effort to reclaim his own unique voice, SAINt JHN began to identify his personal expression within his writing, and once again, his songs shifted. In 2016, he offered a taste when he posted the brooding track “1999” to SoundCloud, with no fixed plan, aside from release. In a short time, the song gained traction – while SAINt JHN gained clarity, and his repertoire expanded quickly. In addition to “1999,” songs like “Roses” establish SAINt JHN’s authentic tone, which Pigeons and Planes described as a “more polished, focused, and intense sound.” The two tracks will be featured on the soon to be heard release Collection Vol. 1, followed by a series of mixtapes, including one from his collective GØDD COMPLEXx – a team of creatives dedicated to pushing boundaries in music and art. “I want to set the groundwork. I want you to understand that there is a foundation here,” he says of his music. “So I am going to introduce you all things that are part of my world. GØDD COMPLEXx is a part of my world. Fashion is part of my world. I am just a conduit for all the things that inspire me.
