Located in beautiful Norfolk, VA… Willoughby Harbor Marina (WHM) is centered in the most popular recreational boating area in Virginia at the mouth of the James River on the lower Chesapeake Bay. Norfolk’s Ocean View Beach, home of WHM, offers a spectacular seven-mile stretch of glittering sandy beaches. The bay’s calm surface and gentle surf make the beach the perfect place for sunbathers, swimmers, and families with children.
To experience opera in Norfolk is to savor it in surroundings of grand elegance at the stunning Edythe C. and Stanley L. Harrison Opera House. Once a World War II USO theater, this historic venue was lavishly renovated in 1993, and each season plays host to the Virginia Opera, one of the finest regional opera companies in the nation. With 1,632 seats and ample modern amenities, the Harrison Opera House retains an intimate ambience, but one adorned by the beauty of glittering chandeliers, sweeping staircases and bistro tables where you can sip champagne and drink in the glamour before performances and during intermissions. On-site parking in brightly lit lots is available on both sides of the theater for $4.00 per car. Limited on-street parking is also available.
Virginia Stage Company is the region’s only fully professional resident theater company, serving an audience of over 90,000 annually. Virginia Stage Company has earned a reputation as one of the country’s foremost regional theaters, attracting the nation’s leading artists to the Wells Theatre stage. The Tony Award-winning musical, The Secret Garden, began its life at VSC, and its award-winning directors, designers and actors work in other theaters across the country as well as on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in film and television. Past productions have included A Christmas Carol, Romeo & Juliet, Alive and Well, Ella, and Line in the Sand.
