Special Event Business License

Are vendors permitted to sell goods or services on the trade show floor? If so, does the City of Norfolk require a special event business license?

The City of Norfolk requires all vendors who are selling goods or services on-site at conferences, conventions, trade shows or other special events to obtain a Special Event Business License. Exhibitors who are not selling goods or services are not required to obtain a license. The license is valid for one calendar year and is currently $50 per license. The business license application must be submitted no later than one month prior to the start of the event in order to approve and process in a timely manner. A participant letter with additional information is attached. Each vendor is responsible for applying individually, and the application can be found here: https://www.norfolk.gov/FormCenter/Commissioner-of-the-Revenue-13/Special-Event-Business-License-Applicati-663
