Waterside District Norfolk VA

The Uruguayan Navy’s sail training tall ship CAPITAN MIRANDA returns to Norfolk, Virginia, Tuesday, July 2 through Friday, July 5, 2024.  Norfolk was selected as one of two East Coast ports (Norfolk and Miami) for the ship’s 2024 sail training tour and is one of the Uruguayan Navy’s favorite ports when visiting the US.
The ship’s visit will correspond with the 4th of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks, taking place in Town Point Park from 5-10 pm on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Arriving at 11am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the 205’ schooner-style ship will dock at Otter Berth next to the Waterside District at 333 Waterside Drive, on the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront.  With its distinctive colorful sunburst sails and lively Comparsa musicians, the CAPITAN MIRANDA has won the “Most Spirit” award at many previous tall ship festivals around the world.

Ship tours are free and open to the public.

The ship will depart Norfolk at 10am on Friday, July 5
