The Sierra Club Virginia Chapter and Norfolk’s Chelsea business community come together to celebrate Virginia’s offshore wind leadership on Saturday June 15 from 10am to 3pm.
The celebration kicks off from 10am to 12pm with an Offshore Wind Open House at Fairwinds Landing, 1222 W. Olney Rd., featuring exhibits and representatives from Dominion Energy, Port of Virginia, and Fairwinds Landing. There will also be kids activities including kite flying and coloring mini-wind turbines (aka pinwheels).
From 12-1pm there’s a Walk & Talk from the Chelsea trailhead on the Elizabeth River Trail to Plum Point Park (1/2 mile each way) to view and talk about the offshore wind activities occurring at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal.
We party for offshore wind from 1-3pm at Smartmouth Brewing Company, 1309 Raleigh Ave. with live music from The Hookz, food trucks, and remarks from Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander.
Free and open. For more info and to RSVP (optional), visit vasierra.club/globalwindday.
