Former Congresswoman and Profile in Courage Award Winner Liz Cheney to appear at The Norfolk Forum on May 7th
The Norfolk Forum will welcome the final speaker of its 2023-24 season, Liz Cheney, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (7:30pm) at downtown Norfolk’s Chrysler Hall.
Liz Cheney served as the U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2023. She chaired the House Republican Conference, the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership, from 2019 to 2021, and served as the Vice Chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.
Ms. Cheney is at the fulcrum in our political divide. Displaying courage, discipline, and integrity in the wake of a national crisis, Cheney’s actions during her last term in Congress laid bare her commitment to country and democracy over politics—and they pose new questions about the future of the American two-party system. Hear Cheney tell the stories of how she arrived at her personal convictions, her remarkable career in Congress, and the road that lies ahead. Her insight into policy, principled leadership, and the future of bipartisanship is unparalleled.
She is the author of the newly released memoir, Oath and Honor, which tells her firsthand account of the moment our democracy threatened to unravel and the story of the brave men and women who fought to save it.
Founded in 1933, The Norfolk Forum is the oldest publicly-subscribed speakers’ forum in the country. Each season, The Forum presents thought-provoking public figures who, in different ways, help shape American thought and opinion.
