The Three Musketeers

A co-production with Norfolk State University Theatre Company. In this beloved tale, we follow the adventures of a young man named d’Artagnan as he joins the king’s Musketeer of the Guard. Joined by friends and fellow musketeers, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, they must travel through the rustic landscapes of early 17th century England and France to protect the royal family they have sworn an oath to. Scandal, intrigue, romance, and good old fashioned sword-fighting can be expected in this swash-buckling adventure.

Join the festivities at the 2024 Shamrockin’ in Ghent, St. Patrick’s Day Block Party on March 8 from 6 to 10 p.m. The event, held on Colley Avenue in Norfolk’s Historic Ghent District, features live performances by The Fighting Jamesons and Tidewater Pipes and Drums, along with food trucks offering tasty treats and cash bars serving Guinness and whisky drinks. Presented by Southern Bank, this local tradition benefits the Hope House Foundation, supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their own homes. Don’t miss out on this vibrant celebration!

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is in its 51st year of intercollegiate competition with the 2021-22 academic school year. Located in Norfolk, the MEAC is made up of eight outstanding historically black institutions across the Atlantic coastline: Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University.

The tournament games are played at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Virginia. Both the men’s and women’s champions will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament. The Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats and North Carolina Central Eagles won the 2019 women’s and men’s titles, respectively, and received bids to the NCAA Tournament. The 2020 Tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For nearly three decades, Alex Bugnon has been an influential figure in contemporary music. Hailing from Caux, Switzerland, just miles above Montreux Jazz Festival, Bugnon’s upbringing surrounded by musical luminaries like Herbie Hancock and his uncle, Donald Byrd, fueled his passion for music. After training at the Paris Conservatory and Berklee School of Music in Boston, Bugnon’s exposure to diverse styles, from R&B to jazz, shaped his distinctive sound. His debut album, “Love Season” (1989), propelled him to prominence, earning him critical acclaim and accolades. Throughout his career, Bugnon has released numerous successful albums, received awards, and maintained a rigorous touring schedule, cementing his status as a beloved artist in the music industry. Blue Pyramid Productions is thrilled to welcome Bugnon back to the 8th Season of the Church Street Jazz Series.

Acting as a natural evolution of her acclaimed “storytime” videos, this show offers an intimate look at Mongeau, her meteoric rise to superstardom, and the unavoidable moments of vulnerability that make this cyber-personality all the more human. Brooke Schofield being the brains and voice of reason between the dynamic duo is exactly what the show needed. Brooke, who was born and raised in Arizona, started her academic journey with nursing but discovered her true passions were in LA. After Brooke’s move, she grew a following quickly over social media thanks to her unique and satirical commentary on everyday life.

We recognized the decline in the promotion of RnB Music from the previous generations and saw the importance of this Feel Good sing-along vibe that it projects on the consumers. With a genre failing to be recognized our goal is to re-energize an era of iconic R&B lovers and artists. This social gathering experience highlights the classic and vibrant energy of a genre that has impacted lovers worldwide. The Chrysler Museum of Art will host “Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm” from December 5, 2023, to April 7, 2024. This groundbreaking exhibition showcases over 250 photographs captured by McCartney during The Beatles’ rise to fame, offering a firsthand glimpse into their journey through Beatlemania. Rediscovered in McCartney’s archive in 2020, these previously unseen images provide a unique insight into the band’s experiences, reflecting McCartney’s sensitivity and interest in visual arts. Supported by the Horace W. Goldsmith Special Exhibitions Endowment, the exhibition marks the museum’s commitment to diverse photography histories. Additional programming, including a special event for members to commemorate The Beatles’ appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 2024, will be announced soon.
