NORFOLK, VA (September 21, 2022) – The Norfolk Society of Cemetery Conservation presents the 9th Annual 5K Run at Elmwood and West Point cemeteries in Norfolk on October 15. The 5k is one of the most unique in the region and highlights one of the nation’s oldest and most historic cemeteries.
Norfolk Society of Cemetery Conservation (NSCC) Executive Director Diana Ramsey said, “The run is the centerpiece of our fundraising efforts. Proceeds allow us to continue our mission of preserving, protecting, and promoting Norfolk’s historic cemeteries. But more than that, it’s just plain fun for people of all age groups and abilities.”

. On the day of the race, participants my register on site at the West Point Memorial in Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk.
The 5k will be preceded by a costume contest of participants in Victorian or Steampunk-era garb at 4 PM in the registration area.
The 5k begins promptly at 5 p.m. at the West Point Memorial. The marathon is professionally timed by Mettle Events, and an awards ceremony will take place immediately following the race.
